Folds/Notebooks is an ongoing series of works comprising photographs and texts mounted on recycled books – a kind of diary-style notebook. It examines how images and text interact and interfere, avoiding any form of illustration or interpretation between the two languages.
In the last series Nola I used Giordano Bruno’s texts instead of my own writings. As well as being a philosopher, astronomer, mathematician and occultist, Giordano Bruno has become a symbol of free thought, rebellion against oppression, and the quest for truth – themes that are highly relevant today.
